Turkey Fan Mount

After a very memorable spring turkey hunt in Northern Idaho, my good friend wanted a way to commemorate the trip with a custom-made turkey fan mount to put in his home. I started with a 5-inch diameter black walnut round and sanded it down from 60 to 800 grit for a smooth finish. I sealed the wood and bark in a glossy polyurethane clearcoat and mounted the beard, fan, and shotshell used to harvest the bird (which I removable).

All in all, I think it turned out great and I would love to make another if you would like to eternalize a special hunt.
