Live Edge Kitchen Shelves

We had some hideous kitchen upper cabinets when we first bought our house and wanted to take them out and add some live edge shelves to open up the kitchen.

I bought two very rough slabs of Honey Locust that were about 4 feet x 1.5 feet x 3 inches. I planed them down to about 2” thick and cast black and silver resin epoxy to create a spiral galaxy-esque vibe. We had to retile behind the old cabinets and I used thick rebar supports on the studs to create a floating shelf and hide any mounting hardware.

They really opened up the kitchen and are very easy to clean and customize.
